Inflation sa bigas umakyat sa 3.6%

Nagbalik sa positive territory ang inflation rate sa bigas sa Pilipinas noong buwan ng Marso matapos ang 14 na buwan na nasa negative level ito.
Sa press briefing nitong Martes, Abril 7, iniulat ni National Statistician and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa na ang inflation sa bigas ay pumalo sa 3.6% mula sa deflation na -3.4% noong Pebrero.
“The inflation rate for rice is now positive after a long period of negative inflation since January 2025,” ani Mapa.
Ang rice inflation ay tuloy-tuloy na negatibo sa buong 2025dahil sa mas mababang rice import tariff na ipinatupad noong Hulyo 2024.
Sa pinakahuling monitoring ng Department of Agriculture, nakita na ang presyo sa kada kilo ng regular, well-milled, at premium rice varieties ay nasa P43.28, P47.95, at P58.90.
Sa kaparehong panahon noong 2025, ang presyo ng regular, well-milled at premium rice varities ay nasa P38.59 kada kilo, P44.70 kada kilo, at P51.63 kada kilo.
Sinabi ng PSA chief na ang pagbabalik ng rice inflation sa positive territory ay “because of the increase in transportation due to the increase of prices in diesel and gasoline.”
