Kinumpirma ni Atty. Benjamin Tolosa Jr. na naghahanap na ang prosecution team ng papalit sa kanya bilang legal spokesman ng grupo.
Ginawa ni Tolosa ang pahayag sa gitna ng paalala ng impeachment court na mas nakakabuti sa prosecution at defense team na kumuha ng spokesman na hindi prosecutor at defense lawyer sa impeachment trial laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
“Actually, even before this came up, we’ve already been trying to look for another spokesperson because when I informed our team that when it’s my turn to be on deck and to present a witness, I would have to scale back my spokes duties,” ani Tolosa.
Si Tolosa ay kabilang sa 15 private prosecutors na tumutulong sa public prosecutor o mga Congressmen subalit itinalaga ito ng grupo bilang legal spokesma habang Atty. Michael Poa ay kabilang sa defense team ni Duterte subalit ito ang humaharap sa media.
“We’re still in the process of trying to look for that other lawyer, also with the litigation background, who could also act as a legal spokesperson. But for now, as I mentioned, I’ll continue to handle dual roles,” ani Tolosa.
Sa ngayon ay may tatlong congressman ang itinagalaga bilang spokesman ng prosecution team na kinabibilangan nina Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, Kabataan party-list Rep. Renee Co at dating Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers.
Subali’t ayon kay Tolosa, kailangan pa ang legal spokesman ng prosecution team upang tumulong sa pagpapaliwanag sa publiko hinggil sa nangyayari sa impeachment court at malabanan ang disinformation.
“The goal here is to combat misinformation, disinformation campaign. We’ve been seeing that from day one so for us, that is very crucial. So that we could explain in a manner that could be understood by the public, the technicalities, what’s actually going on in this impeachment trial,” ani Tolosa.
Hindi kinumpirma ng abogado kung may shortlist o napupusuan na ang mga ito na papalit sa kanyang bilang legal spokesman subali’t sinabi nito na “the search is ongoing”.
