Humiling ang Office of the Ombudsman sa Sandiganbayan sa pag-iisyu ng precautionary hold departure order laban kina Senador Francis “Chiz” Escudero at negosyanteng si Maynard Ngu.
Sina Escudero at Ngu ay iniimbestigahan sa umano’y plunder, graft, at indirect bribery sa flood control scandal.
Ang request ay ni-raffle sa Sandiganbayan Sixth Division nitong Sabado ng hapon, Abril 25.
Ayon kay dating Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, pinadala niya kay Ngu ang 20% o P160 milyon ng nasa P800 milyong inserted projects para sa Valenzuela sa General Appropriations Act.
Ang P160 milyon, ani Bernardo, ay “meant for Senator Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero.”
Inilarawan ni Bernardo si Ngu bilang kanyang “close friend,” at personal niyang inihatid ang cash sa opisina nito sa Maynila.
Sa kanyang affidavit, sinabi ni Bernardo na si Ngu ay “close friend” din at campaign contributor ni Escudero.
Sa kabila nito ay itinanggi naman ni Ngu ang alegasyon na siya ay sangkot sa flood control kickbacks.
“I absolutely denied all the allegations made by Usec. Bernardo. That’s the reason why I already filed the case against Usec. on defamatory insinuations. For this, I invoke the sub judice rule because it’s pending already with appropriate courts,” sinabi ni Ngu sa pagdinig ng Senate blue ribbon committee noong Enero.
Pinabulaanan din ni Escudero ang alegasyon na siya ay sangkot sa maanomalyang flood control projects.
“By his own admission, he never had any contact with me directly regarding this matter—and I will prove that he is lying about my alleged involvement,” ayon sa dating Senate president.
