Impeachment Pre-Trial Conference kasado sa Hunyo 18

Nag-isyu na ng Notice of Pre-Trial Conference si Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian sa impeachment case ni Vice President Sara Duterte na gaganapin sa Hunyo 18 sa Senado.
Sa Notice of Pre-Trial Conference, nakasaad na si Gatchalian ang presiding officer ng impeachment court.
Indikasyon ito na si Gatchalian ang pamumuno sa impeachment trial ni Duterte na inaasahang magsisimula sa July 6, 2026.
Bukod sa House o Public Prosecutors, pinadalhan din ng nasabing notice si Duterte at copy furnished Fortun Narvasa & Salazar Law office na siyang tumatayong abogado ng pangalawang pangulo.
“The notice stated that the parties may attend personally or through counsel and are expected to address key pre-trial matters, including the stipulation of facts, simplification of issues, marking of documentary and real evidence, identification of witnesses, setting of trial dates, and the proposed sequence for the presentation of evidence, and such other matters that will promote a fair and expeditious trial of the case,” ani Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon, isa sa 11 public prosecutors.
Nabatid na bukas sa media ang pre-trial conference subalit ipagbabawal na ilabas ang detalye ng ukol sa mga witnesses ng prosecution at defense team para sa kanilang seguridad at inatasan din ang magkabilang kampo na isumite sa Clerk of Impeachment Court ang kanilang pre-trial brief hanggang June 15, 2026.
“Failure of any party to submit Pre-Trial Brief on time, or to appear at the Pre-Trial conference without valid, legally justifiable reason, may result in the waiver of their right to introduce specific evidence or witnesses, or may prompt the Impeachment Court to proceed with the formation of the Pre-Trial Order based solely on the record available,” ayon pa sa notice na inisyu ni Gatchalian.
