Defense team ni VP Sara dumistansya sa palit-liderato ng Senado

Dumistansya ang defense team ni Vice President Sara Duterte sa pagpapalit ng liderato sa Senado na ngayon ay pinamumunuan na ni Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano na kilalang kaalyado ng Duterte family.
Ayon kay Atty. Michael Poa, spokesperson para sa defense team ni Duterte, hindi nila nais na “paint a picture of bias” sa pagitan ng dalawang liderato at nirerespeto aniya nila ang sinumang mamumuno sa mataas na kapulungan.
“Ayaw nating magsabi ng ganyan ‘no because if we say that, then we will probably be siguro painting a picture of bias between one leadership to another,” ani Poa.
“We respect the Senate. Kung sino man ang liderato, we expect fairness. At syempre po ‘no, alam naman natin na ang Senado ay (of course, we know that the Senate is) really 24 independent republics and we have always believed that they will decide based on the evidence presented to them,” dagdag pa.
Matatandaan na pinatalsik si Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III bilang Senate President nitong Lunes, Mayo 11 sa kasagsagan ng pagboto ng Kamara sa impeachment complaints laban kay Duterte.
Samantala, sinabi ng mga abogado ni Duterte n handa silang depensahan ang Bise Presidente sa Senado sa oras na mag-convene ito bilang impeachment court.
“We are aware of the action taken by the plenary and with that vote to transmit the Articles of Impeachment, the burden now rests on the accusers to substantiate their claims in accordance with the Constitution, the law, and rules on evidence,” ayon sa defense team ni Duterte.
