Mananatili pa rin sa kulungan si dating Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. kahit na pinayagan ito ng Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) at dalawa pang coaccused nito na makapagpiyansa dahil sa mahinang kaso sangkot ang 2019 na pagpatay ng umano’y dati nitong hit man.
Sa resolusyon noong Abril 15 ng Manila RTC Branch 30, pinagbigyan ni Presiding Judge Ryan Philip Bartolome ang petition for bail na hiwalay na inihain nina Teves at coaccused nitong sina Richard Cuadra at Rolando Pinili dahil sa bigong pagpapatunay ng prosekusyon ng matibay na evidence of guilt laban sa kanila.
Sa kabila nito ay mananatili si Teves sa detention sa Bureau of Jail Management and Penology compound sa Camp Bagong Diwa dahil sa iba pang pending murder charges kabilang ang pagpatay kay dating Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo.
Itinakda ng korte ang piyansang P500,000 para kay Teves habang sina Cuadra at Pinili naman ay tig-P250,000.
“After a careful evaluation of the testimonies of all the witnesses for both sides and a judicious scrutiny of the [transcript], as well as their respective evidence presented, the court finds that the prosecution failed to show, establish and prove that the evidence of guilt is strong as to each accused in this case for the crime charged against them which is murder,” saad sa 17 pahinang resolusyon ng korte.
