Hiniling ni Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano sa lahat ng senador na dumalo sa Session Hall ng Senado sa Lunes, Mayo 18, sa ganap na alas-3 ng hapon, para sa nakatakdang pagko-convene bilang impeachment court.
Sa isang liham na may petsang Mayo 15 na ipinadala sa mga senador, binanggit ni Cayetano ang pormal na pagtanggap ng Senate sa Articles of Impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte mula sa Kamara de Representantes noong Mayo 13.
“Pursuant to Rule I of the Senate Rules of Procedure on Impeachment Trials and consistent with its mandate under Article XI, Section 3 of the Constitution, the Senate has taken proper order of the impeachment and shall immediately proceed to its consideration,” bahagi ng liham.
Binanggit din ni Cayetano na ipinaalam ng kanyang opisina sa Kamara sa aksyon ng Senado sa pamamagitan ng liham na ipinadala noong Mayo 14 at natanggap din ng mga ito sa parehong araw.
Dahil dito, inatasan ang lahat ng senador na dumalo sa itinakdang oras at petsa para sa opisyal na pagbubukas ng impeachment court.
Inatasan din ang senator-judges na magsuot ng kanilang mga robe sa pagbubukas ng impeachment proceedings.
“You are accordingly requested to be present at the Session Hall on the said date and time… your presence and cooperation are essential to the proper and orderly conduct of these proceedings,” dagdag pa sa liham.
