Hihilingin ni Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla sa Sandiganbayan na i-discharge si dating Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan mula sa mga kasong kinahaharap nito kaugnay ng umano’y P573 milyong kickbacks sa flood control projects.
Nahaharap si Bonoan sa non-bailable na kasong plunder kasama sina Senador Jinggoy Estrada, dating DPWH NCR Assistant District Engineer Denryl Cortuna, at DPWH NCR District Engineers Manny Bumagat Bulusan at Arturo Lombres Gonzales Jr.
Kapwa rin sila nahaharap ni Estrada sa dalawang bilang ng kasong graft.
“We already have a side agreement for the cooperation of former Secretary Manuel Bonoan to be a state witness, to be a cooperating witness,” ani Remulla sa isang press conference.
“We will ask the court to discharge him as a respondent so he can testify for us as a state witness,” dagdag niya.
Ayon kay Remulla, mahalaga ang magiging testimonya ni Bonoan sa pagpapatibay ng mga kasong inihahanda ng Ombudsman kaugnay ng mga anomalya sa flood control projects.
“The knowledge that he has about the whole institution is something very important to us to be able to prove many cases… we will be benefiting from his testimony with regard to many of the cases that we are filing,” aniya pa.
Matatandaang pinayagan na ng Sandiganbayan Fifth Division si Bonoan na isailalim sa hospital arrest. Nakatakda ang arraignment ng kanyang kaso sa Martes, Hunyo 30.
